Silent Hill 2 Remake was developed by Bloober Team which has carved a wild reputation in the horror genre. The remake is not just a graphic update. Every part of the game was reimagined and optimized for the current-gen consoles and PC via Steam.

“This remake is based on the original, but with modern technology, the graphics and sound have been improved to provide an immersive experience,” Konami said in the press release.

“In addition, the exploration area has been expanded, a perspective over the character’s shoulder has been introduced, the battle system has been revamped, and new cut scenes have been added, making this a work that can be enjoyed by both those who have played the original and those who are playing for the first time.”

Silent Hill 2 Remake grossed an average Metacritic score of 86 on both PS5 and PC. The original Silent Hill 2 director, Masashi Tsuboyama, was pleased by what Bloober Team did with the franchise.

The veteran game maker was particularly impressed with how the over-the-shoulder camera made the game more immersive, a feat they could not achieve with the fixed camera angle of the original game.

“The thing to note is the change in camera (perspective),” Tsuboyama wrote through a thread on X. “The change in playable camera has a significant impact on many aspects, combat, level design, art creation, etc. While the impact on the story may be relatively small, it brings a big change to the play-feel of the game.”
