Squirrel with a Gun initially launched on August 29 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, GeForce Now, and PC. However, it will be available on PS5 starting today October 15, 2024. Squirrel with a Gun is an indie action-adventure game developed by Dee Dee Creations and published by Maximum Entertainment.
In a new update on the PlayStation Blog, Maximum Entertainment’s community manager Michal Napora shared the roadmap for the game. According to the roadmap, Squirrel with a Gun will continue to get free content updates until August 2025.

The first free update the game will get upon launch on PS5 is a Photo Mode. Unlike in most other games, the Photo Mode in Squirrel with a Gun will serve more than just for taking shots of epic moments in the game. It will come with a variety of modes to help players take the perfect shot.
“First up is the classic Cam Adjust Mode, which helps you control the camera like a pro,” Napora said. “Move the camera around, rotate it, and even give it a dramatic Dutch angle for some serious flair. Zoom in and out with the Field of View (FoV) slider to frame your perfect shot, whether you’re up close and personal or catching the action from afar.”
“Finally, the Filter Mode. Why settle for ordinary when you can add a touch of whimsy to your photos? With 15 unique filters to collect, such as the cute kawaii-esqe filter, or the timeless and still oh-so relevant awesome meme face filter, you can turn every snapshot into something truly memorable or hilarious.”
What’s new in Squirrel with a Gun?
A new boss battle with the legendary Ratatoskr is planned for release around December 2024. According to Napora, “This boss fight is unlike any of the other battles you will face”. Ratatoskr moves fast and has a variety of ranged and melee attacks. It is also a smaller target which makes aiming more difficult.
To make it easier for players to get over the challenge, the developer offers a special SMG with a magazine of infinite bullets. Here are all the free content planned for Squirrel with a Gun and the timeline of their release:

Squirrel with a Gun launched on Microsoft platforms to a mixed reception. It bagged an average Metacritic score of 62 on PC. Hopefully, it will fare better on PS5.
