Star Wars Outlaws may not have enjoyed a rousing reception as Ubisoft expected, but it was not a total disaster—at least not every part of the game. It made it to the 2025 Grammy Awards Nomination list under the Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media category.
Video games got its dedicated Grammy Awards category at the 2023 ceremony. The Recording Academy said the award “recognizes excellence in score soundtrack albums comprised predominantly of original scores and created specifically for, or as a companion to a current video game or other interactive media released within the qualification period”.

As with previous years, five video game songs were nominated this year in this category including Star Wars Outlaws (Wilbert Roget, II) and God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla (Bear McCreary). This makes it the third consecutive year that Bear McCreary’s video game score has been nominated in this category—the first composer to achieve this feat. The full list of the nominees include:
Bear McCreary – God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla
John Paesano – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Pinar Toprak – Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Wilbert Roget II – Star Wars Outlaws
Winifred Phillips – Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord
McCreary was nominated in the previous years for Call of Duty: Vanguard and God of War Ragnarök’s base game. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla composer Stephanie Economou won the inaugural edition of the category, beating Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Old World.
The 2024 edition was won by Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab for their Star Wars Jedi: Survivor soundtrack. They beat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical to win the award.
Hopefully, this would be the year that McCreary wins his deserved trophy. Are you satisfied with the nominees or is there a game that you think deserves to be on the list? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
