The upcoming action-adventure game is being developed by Massive Entertainment and will be published by Ubisoft under license by Lucasfilm Games. In terms of the setting of the game in the Star Wars universe, the developers have revealed that it will take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

It is the first game in the Star Wars series that will feature a fully open world. Also, it will have space combat, vehicular combat, and open combat—all of which were showcased a day after the Xbox Games Showcase back in June last year. The 10-minute gameplay footage showed the intro section of the game.

Leading the development of the game are Mathias Karison and creative director Julian Gerighty. The game was developed using the Snowdrop game engine. Gerighty mentioned that the choice of the game’s setting was a decision made due to the love of his colleagues for the original trilogy.
