Star Wars Outlaws was an ambitious project and the first ever open-world Star Wars game. However, its launch was “softer than expected”. But Ubisoft is not giving up on the title just yet and recently outlined plans to improve the quality.
During a conference call on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Ubisoft highlighted the plans it has to improve the game in time for the holidays. The company is also making other changes including bringing games to Steam on day one.

“Despite solid ratings (Metacritic 76) and user scores across the First Party and Epic stores (3.9/5) that reflect an immersive and authentic Star Wars universe, Star Wars Outlaws’ initial sales proved softer than expected”, Ubisoft said.
“In response to player feedback, Ubisoft’s development teams are currently fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season to position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer.”
Ubisoft also said it will release Star Wars Outlaws on Steam on November 21, 2024. In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Ubisoft Massive studio head Julian Gerighty said he was disappointed by the game’s Metacritic score.
“This will be a game that millions of people are going to play for years and years, and we’re never going to stop improving it,” he said. “Well, that’s a lie, we’ll probably stop improving it, but today my mind is not on stopping improving it.”
Star Wars Outlaws is getting a new story DLC called Wild Card
The Wild Card DLC will launch on November 21 and will see Kay Vess being hired to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament. Her path crosses with the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian and she realizes that another game is being played.

According to Ubisoft, all players will receive free content in the form of new Contracts. In a new post on X, Ubisoft also revealed that it was working hard on multiple title updates that will further improve the game.

“We’re hard at work creating multiple title updates, which will bring optimization, gameplay polishing, and tweaks as well as quality of life changes including adjustments to combat and stealth gameplay,” the company announced.
Ubisoft will release a second story expansion titled Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune in the spring of 2025.
