A Street Fighter 6 tournament was temporarily suspended after the host forgot to turn off their unclad Chun-Li mod/costume. The embarrassing NSFW clip was shared on Twitter on July 31 by @nicholasdeorio with the caption “Street Fighter tournament host forgets to turn off his X-rated mod”.

To the surprise of everyone, the X-rated Chun-Li mod appeared during a second-round matchup between Chun-Li and Kimberly. The mod removed the female fighter’s clothes and caused a stir.

The tournament commentators were dumbfounded for a few seconds as they scrambled for words to describe the images they had just seen. The short silence was followed by a row of laughter after the video feed was cut from the gameplay footage.

“Ehm… That is a very interesting Chun-Li costume there,” one of the commentators said eventually.

“That’s a new costume, recently released though,” the second commentator added.

Afterward, both commentators burst into raucous laughter. “…keeps you guys in mind this is an 18+ game, as you guys can see,” one of the commentators said.

The tournament later resumed after the offensive content was removed.

It only took three days after its release on 2 June 2023 across PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S to surpass 1 million sales. According to VGC, Capcom hopes to sell 10 million copies of Street Fighter 6 throughout its lifetime.

If Capcom achieves that feat, it would be a slight improvement from Street Fighter 5 which has sold 7.2 million units as of March 2023. In an Interview with Famitsu, President of Capcom Haruhiro Tsujimoto said that by making Street Fighter 6 less ‘hardcore’ they believe it would widen the fan scope.

Street Fighter 6 earned the coveted ‘Famitsu 40’

In the 37-year history of the Japanese Magazine, only 29 games have bagged a perfect score—and Street Fighter 6 is the 29th in the magazine’s issue 1801. What was even more interesting was that Street Fighter 6’s perfect score came only weeks after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also got the perfect score in the magazine’s issue 1798.

According to reports, there are four different game reviewers at Famitsu—a weekly game magazine. They all independently play the game and score it out of 10. ‘Famitsu 40’ is a term used to describe what happens when all four reviewers independently score the game 10 out of 10.

All eyes turned to the UK magazine, Edge, which also scores games out of 10. While Street Fighter 6 came really close, it was unable to get ‘Edge 10’. Although the reviewers at Edge thoroughly enjoyed the game, they rated it 9/10. Only 24 games have received the accolade in the 30-year history of the magazine.

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sixth game in history to receive a perfect score in both publications. The other games that have received a perfect score on Famitsu and Edge include;
