Sony Reportedly Shut Down 2 More Live Service Games

Notwithstanding the cancellation of the live service games, Bend and Bluepoint will not be shut down.

PlayStation’s Co-CEO Herman Hulst confirmed Sony will continue to invest in live service games, despited the outcome of Concord.

Arguably the biggest takeaway from the AAA games that flopped in 2024 is that big budgets don’t translate to successful games.

Barely a month passed without the announcement of a game studio closure.

In the farewell message, Firewalk called its employees “world-class” and said any studio would be fortunate to work with them.

Sony is pulling the plug on Firewalk Studios and permanently sunsetting Concord citing the game’s poor reception.

The leaked Secret Level trailer also contained new scenes that were not in the original trailer, giving more insight to the action and the story.

In the last few years, several AAA studios making single player games have pivoted to making live-services games.

“I don’t think Astro Bot is asking for anything quite as insidious as brand loyalty, but it’s somewhere in that ballpark,” Kronman wrote.

FIrewalk will refund every player who has already purchased Concord—whether they purchased via Steam, Epic Games Store, or other retail outlets.
