It was a hard pill to swallow in May 2024 when Tango Gameworks announced that it would close. The studio behind the beloved IP, Hi-Fi Rush, was one of those affected by the restructuring of Microsoft’s gaming division.

Tango Gameworks Officially Announce its Rebirth In A New Year Message

“Thank you to everyone that explored the worlds we created,” wrote Tango Gameworks in its farewell message to fans at that time. “Hi-Fi Rush along with Tango’s previous titles will remain available and playable everywhere they are today.”

In August, Tango Gameworks was given a second chance through a deal with Krafton, the publisher behind popular franchises like Dark and Darker, InZOI, and PUBG. In its New Year message, Tango Gameworks announced its rebirth which comes with a minor name change.

“Tango Gameworks studio has been reborn as Tango Gameworks Inc., proudly joining KRAFTON Inc.,” read the studio’s New Year message. “We’re excited to continue crafting games that bring joy to players around the world.”

With the rebirth announcement from Tango, several fans of their popular IPs like Ghostwire and The Evil Within are already asking if there would be a new sequel for those titles. However, an X user with the handle @K1NGDRO1D said it was unlikely—with reasons.

“For all you guys in the comments. When Tango was bought by Krafton they only bought the rights to Hi-Fi Rush,” the user claimed. “So don’t expect any games like The Evil Within 3 or Ghostwire 2. They’re officially developing Hi-Fi Rush 2 and any other media related to Hi-Fi.”

GameBaba Universe could not independently verify this claim since we didn’t get the full details of the Krafton deal. The New Year message was the first post on Tango’s social media since May 2024.

Do you think Tango Gameworks will get the chance to explore new IPs and genres under Krafton as they did under Microsoft? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
