A new publication by Electrek claims Tesla is informing Model X and Model S buyers that Steam support will be disabled. However, it has emphasized that all other entertainment would not be affected.

“Tesla is updating the gaming computer in your Model X and your vehicle is no longer capable of playing Steam games. All other entertainment and app functionalities are unaffected,” reads a message sent to owners.

Tesla integrated Steam into its infotainment system back in 2022. The native Steam app allowed owners of Model S and Model X to launch the app and continue their games from where they left off on their PCs. However, owners of the vehicle could only play games while the car was parked or charging.

According to the report, the development will only affect new buyers. Existing buyers who already have the Steam app as part of their infotainment system will not be affected. A lot of gamers who intend to purchase Tesla’s Model S and Model X will surely be disappointed by this news.
