Nintendo has confirmed the date for its next virtual events, and it will focus on the lineup of games coming to the Switch platform. What the March 27 Nintendo Direct will not include is an update on Nintendo Switch 2.

“Tune in tomorrow, March 27th, at 7 a.m. PT for a livestreamed #NintendoDirect, featuring around 30 minutes of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch,” read the message shared by the publisher across social media platforms. “There will be no updates about Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation.”

On X where the information was shared, Nintendo added a comment under the post saying, “Information about #NintendoSwitch2 will be shared on April 2nd at 6 a.m. PT in the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 – 4.2.2025 presentation.”

The confirmation of the next Nintendo Direct event follows days of rumors from leakers who claimed that an event was happening this week. One of the games that many anticipate to see at the event is an update on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

There have been claims that the game will not be part of the Nintendo Switch 2 event. That would be quite odd because with the current Switch being at the end of its life cycle, it makes sense that top-tier titles be reserved for the next-generation console. However, if that happens to be true, Metroid Prime 4 will likely be part of the March 27 Nintendo Direct lineup.

According to Insider Gaming, Nintendo plans to release the launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2 in three waves. Perhaps, that is to give players enough time between releases to enjoy the games—and maybe boost sales too considering that a packed release window is often blamed for poor sales.
