Several weeks ago, gameplay footage of Valve’s next multiplayer shooter called Deadlock was shared online. Valve has now officially announced the presence of the game with a 22-second teaser video.
Not much was disclosed about the game except that it was “still in early development stages with lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay”. Valve also mentioned that “Access to Deadlock is currently limited to friend invites via our playtesters”.
The leaks so far show that Deadlock is a 6-v-6 third-person multiplayer shooter. Notwithstanding the fact that Valve has maintained secrecy about the game, it has become a burning topic on some social media platforms.

“Valve’s worst-kept secret; the playtest everyone and their grandma are already playing,” wrote Steam game curator Bowsette’s Castle. “It’s a hero shooter mixed with dota-like moba defense, poised to challenge OW2, smite, and the ill-fated concord.”
On Steam, the game’s store page features concept art and the recently added video. Valve will develop and publish the game. There is currently no release date for Deadlock, neither has Valve disclosed the PC specs for the game.
Deadlock is likely one of many games currently under development by Valve. In 2021, Gabe Newell, the co-founder of Valve said the company had multiple games in development and was eager to deliver a single-player experience, following the release of Half-Life Alyx the previous year.
The most recent release from Valve was last year’s Counter-Strike 2 which has continued to top the platform’s concurrent player count. Before the release of Counter-Strike 2, the company focused mainly on VR titles. In recent years, Valve has made headlines for the cancelation of several games under development.
