Xbox yesterday announced that it will be present at Gamescom 2024 while also unveiling a list of games it plans to showcase at the elite gaming event which will be held in Cologne from Wednesday, August 21 to Sunday, August 25, 2024.
“We’re excited to confirm a few of our games at @gamescom: Age of Mythology: Retold, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, Diablo Immortal, The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Towerborne and World of Warcraft: The War Within! More soon,” the company wrote through its official Xbox UK account on X.
Xbox teased that Gamescom 2024 will feature its “biggest booth ever”. Although all the games it listed for Gamescom 2024 have already been showcased at Xbox Games Showcase, it also mentioned that more games will be revealed soon. Perhaps, Xbox executives still have something up their sleeves.

Some of the gamers who commented under the post were curious to know if some of the games Xbox plans to bring to Gamescom 2024 will have a playable demo.
“Playable at Gamescom at all? I shall be there all the days :)” wrote @OkRh1no.
Although it is barely two months to Gamescom 2024, the organizers have yet to unveil a full list of exhibitors. However, some big companies have already made their position clear on whether they will be present or not.
PlayStation will not be at Gamescom 2024
In what may not seem like a surprise to many, Sony Interactive Entertainment will not have a booth at Gamescom 2024, according to a report by Games Wirtschaft, a German publication. In recent years, the Japanese gaming and entertainment giant has been scaling back on third-party game events in favor of its proprietary digital event.
The last time that Sony made an appearance at Gamescom was in 2019. That also marked the last in-person show before COVID-19 forced organizers to seek virtual alternatives. A lot has changed since COVID, with more companies turning to proprietary digital events to showcase their games.

For example, Sony used its State of Play event in May to announce its new titles including Concord and Astro Bot, as well as reveal the launch date of previously revealed titles—although a lot of viewers were far from impressed with the show.
Well, Sony is not the only big gaming company that will be missing at Gamescom 2024. Nintendo has also previously revealed that it has no plans to attend the summer show. The Super Mario Bros. maker also uses its proprietary Nintendo Direct to showcase its games.
